The House on the Rock Craft

Jesus said, “So then, anyone who hears these words of mine and obeys them is like a wise man who built his house on rock…”

For this craft there are lots of colouring in pages on the internet, however I usually only do this lesson over one week as a fill in week. I like to do this craft as it really reiterates, Faith at Home. You would hope that this craft would end up in a bedroom or even if its outside in the garden at least it is bringing Jesus into the home!

I go to a local earth/stone supplier an they laugh out loud when I only need $2 worth of stones, however it may cost more if you have a bigger class. I use a fabric pen to write on the rocks and then the children make a little house out of card which they fold to make a box with a roof . I get them to colour in the house before they fold it and there is no fixing the house on the rock, they go home with two separate things, their special rock and their coloured and made house.

The little house is easily made out of card, I photocopy the outline onto card and cut it out for the children, then they draw in the windows and colour it, helpers help them fold and secure it together with cellotape and then they have a house and a rock!
